Testing is definitive; not leakproof! But still useful as you say and the gifted one is still appreciated.

I cap my greases (bacon, duck, etc) … jellies after I’ve opened them … refrigerator pickles … no leaks thus far. But I haven’t gone so far as to shake a salad w/dressing in a capped one!
